The day has finally arrived!  Sometimes it’s hard to believe I’m actually leaving.  But then I look around the house and see evidence that I have been busy the last few days, finding things to do to pass the time.  The linen closet is tidy, the laundry room is spotless – even my desk is almost cleared off.  So it must be true.

On top of that,  family and friends have been visiting, phoning and emailing.  They, too, know that this adventure is important to me.  Matt phoned yesterday from Nice (Yes, he’s having a ‘nice’ time there …), Scott came for dinner and stayed overnight and Jon woke up early this morning so he could make me breakfast before he headed off to work.  And, finally, Craig cooked my favourite lamb dinner last night.  Thanks to you all!!  (I didn’t know you were so anxious to get rid of me!)

In many ways I feel like I am one person traveling on behalf of many.  Whether it’s Diane and her family who so desperately want to meet Edina in person, Craig who wishes it was him going to Zambia again, my friends from church who would love to go if it wasn’t for their young families, or my colleagues from school who would love the chance to work with children in another part of the world — I’m going for you too!  I feel a great privilege to be able to do this – thank you to so many of you whose prayers, encouragement and gifts have made this possible.

I’ll try to blog as often as I can.  See you all in September – with pictures and stories from ‘our’ trip!

Until the next time … Cathy
